hi,
I have tried this but it shows the total no or records shown currently on the page not the total number of records fetched.Can you solve this issue.

Answer: You cannot get the total records from the gridview. You have to get the record count using Selected event of the datasource object that is bound to the GridView.

void objectDataSource_Selected(object sender, ObjectDataSourceStatusEventArgs e)
{
lblCount1.Text = "Total Record count = " + ((DataView)e.ReturnValue).Count.ToString();
}

Guild Wars Nightfall Offical Release Date – Oct 27th

Filed under: Gaming News — ej2 at 7:59 am on Friday, August 25, 2006

ArenaNet® and NCsoft® today announced that Guild Wars Nightfall™, the next game in the award-winning and critically-acclaimed Guild Wars® franchise, will be available in stores worldwide October 27, 2006. The news was announced today from the Guild Wars Factions™ World Championship in Leipzig, Germany.

In this third Guild Wars campaign, players must fight to hold back the night as a mad ruler attempts to free an outcast god and bring darkness to the continent of Elona. But players won’t fight alone. Guild Wars Nightfall introduces new customizable Heroes who level up, follow player instructions in combat, and use skills and equipment of the player’s choosing. These Heroes will follow the player through savage coasts, ancient monuments, and poisonous deserts during an epic story that spans twenty missions and hundreds of quests. And for the ultimate one-on-one challenge, competitive players can choose to enter the new Hero vs. Hero Battles, where they group with a custom team of Heroes and fight against other players from around the world and their customized groups of Heroes.

Guildwars Nightfall Screens and Info

Filed under: Gaming News — ej2 at 12:34 pm on Thursday, August 24, 2006

This thread on gwonline has links to a bunch new Nightfall screen shots.

More screens found here and here.

And some notes on Nightfall from Live from Leipzig thread:

PcGames.de now released another article to Nightfall:

- the motto is: More PvE than in Factions
- but there will be new arenas/guild halls
- also pcgames talks about dungeons
- traps are: things crashing down, poisonthrower (whatever that is), spring gun
(they make you blind (not the condition, but your screen) and nebulize (right word?) your view
- Also a example for a puzzle: You have to collect stone tablets and insert them in a pedestial, but there is a ghost who steals them as soon as they’re in the pedestial. Also the solution is given, but I wont tell it :P
- they saw a jungle-area and a temple
- waterfalls are looking more realistic now
- those customizable npcs are the henchies if I unterstand the article correctly. In a few missions you have to make decisions which affect the variety of available npcs
- updates to the interface
- better group searching – its planned to search in other districts too
- skill templates can be saved (wooohooo!)

www.guild-wars.info (GER) released another article:
(Source: http://gw.onlinewelten.com/articles,…_gc_games.html )
- they talk about traps/puzzles
- they asked for the bonus missions, but haven’t recieved an exact answer (but they [ANET] know we like bonus missions)
- dervish got nerfed a bit (oh noes :x )
- they know that balancing is hard, but ncsoft is confident they’ll make it because the game was designed to last 5-7 years (or even more)
- also the players has to be able to overwatch the whole skills/classes
- the amount of content is pretty equal to factions
- nothing new about game mechanics like alliance battles (ncsoft-member didn’t answer ^^)
- minor interface upgrades and dmg/energy/heal-numbers pop up a bit different
- also the graphics got a bit polished
- they think about how they can make the “auction houses” secure to avoid any abuse
- the worker wasn’t sure about further weekend-events, they were here to motivate the players for nightfall
- they also think about merchandise products, but thats gonna take some time
- in a few hours (16:00 GMT+1) there’s gonna be a press conference
- they (g-w.info) expect a release date at the conference

Guild Wars – State of the Game

Filed under: Gaming News — ej2 at 12:59 pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2006

A new article is up on the Guild Wars website about damage calculation. Discussion on gwonline.net forums has pointed out a number of errors. You would think an official Guild Wars article would clear up misconceptions, but instead it has added to the confusion.

In other Guild Wars news there are rumors that PC Gamer is giving away mini pets in its November issue. I predict that PC Gamer will have record sales in November.
